March 27, 2006Lest we forget why we're here and what can be accomplished if we all work together:
1. One in 6 African children dies before the age of 5.
2. Thousands of children are trafficked every year--forced to work as slaves, to beg on the streets, to sell drugs, as subjects of pornography, or for prostitution.
3. It is widely believed in many tribal cultures in Africa that a man can be cured of AIDS by sleeping with a virgin. This myth leaves many, many young girls vulnerable to rape.
Only education can break this cycle.
